 | From our experience these birds average about 5lbs (dressed) at 7-8 weeks of age. Many hatcheries do not recommend raising these birds at high altitude or in the "extreme" heat but we have never had any issues. Their survival rate (until processed!!) has proven exceptional high. We typically keep them in the brooder for about 2 weeks, provide supplemental heat for another week and they are usually outdoors without supplemental heat by 4 weeks. We have found that by 9-10 weeks, the males especially, start to outweigh their legs and quickly loose mobility. |  |
