What should I feed my puppy???
VERY good question and our VERY simple answer........... Whatever you feel comfortable feeding them. Throw in the NuVet Plus and you will be on the right track.
Some people swear by the expensive brands, the corn free grain free foods, the fresh foods. Honestly we think that it depends on your lifestyle. We live on a farm. Our dogs love to eat the cow feed, the chicken feed, (grain, corn, grass) whatever they find in the garden and honestly, as disgusting as it is, one of their favorite snacks is.......well, do I really need to go there?!!
One of my very first dogs, Scooter, at Ol' Roy from the time she was a puppy until the time she passed away at right around 17 years of age. She didn't have any major health problems, she was as healthy as you could ever hope for. We have researched and researched and there does not seem to be any conclusive evidence that any one brand will extend your dog's life or quality of life over another. Do your own research and stick with what fits your lifestyle.
We do however switch our females to a higher protein, higher "quality" food if you will while they are pregnant, nursing and getting back to normal. The puppies will be fed this as well. We like Natures Logic and this is why....
I found Nature's Logic completely by accident. My Boarder Collie, Daisy, travels EVERYWHERE with me. When she was on the ranch she ate what she wanted when she wanted BUT she had free run of 40 acres. When we are traveling she is confined to smaller areas and doesn't get nearly as much exercise as she should. Over the period of a few months she put on a LOT of weight. After vet visits, blood work and a lot of stress it was determined there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with her, other than about 25 extra pounds. I spoke with a small pet store owner in Jackson WY who suggested trying this high protein food. ***I don't understand any of the nutritional information*** Supposedly more of the nutrients are absorbed into the body rather than just passing through. Well, whatever the reason it has helped, AND what comes out is much smaller!! It is also VERY expensive. BUT it is what Momma and the pups get.
