Our Little Bit Ranch Mini Aussies....AND POULTRY!!
What we do and who we are..........
We raise, care for, train, rescue and find great, loving, forever homes for these wonderful dogs. It is a LOT of work. We also raise pullets and turkeys.
Mini Aussies We got our first Mini Aussie, Chief, in 2009, not intending to breed him at all. The entire family fell in love with him and we decided that we would get a female and try our hand a breeding them as pets. We got Squish a few months later and our first litter was born in October of 2010. Since then we have added another male, Chance, to our family and a few females. Rayne, DoSiDo and Fire, and the list keeps growing!
Since deciding to breed Mini Aussies we have learned a lot of very helpful information from several great breeders. We have done MANY, MANY hours of research on the breed and everything that has to do with breeding, raising and training them. And we are still learning. We have added a page to this site with what we have found to be useful and hope that at the very least it gives you a little more knowledge about the breed.
POULTRY We have been raising poultry for as long as I can remember but over the past few years our little hobby has turned into a part time, if not full time job! We order egg layers of many different breeds by the 100's at a time. We raise them until they are past that "delicate" stage of life, feathered out, and ready to live outside. Occasionally we have a few laying hens available and are actually considering placing a large order in the fall so that we do have laying hens available in the Spring. As if that isn't enough we have decided to raise turkeys! Turkey have proven to be HARD work. We have experienced a high rate of loss from the hatchery and they eat a LOT! But we will see how this year goes and hopefully be able to continue with the turkeys..
Who we are? Well....WE started out as my mom and I but have added a few "employees"!!! My youngest sister........Abby is responsible for helping with the daily chores, grooming and training. She hates the chickens and is afraid of turkeys so she gets out of helping with them! My niece, Maddie helps Abby with everything that she does. She is also responsible for socializing the puppies. She enjoys helping feed and water the poultry, and is excellent at catching the chicks.....when it comes to the turkeys, forget it. They are as big as she is!!! AND my dad. He builds all of our pens and all the other odd chores that he thinks we take too long to get around to doing!!
